Wibble Board Procedures

This may be out of date, please check with a Wibble Bord member (refer club faculty) for up to date information.

Wibble Fund Applications

Applications should be made using mudmail from the Post Office at the corner of God Street and Widdershins Broadway in Ankh-Morpork. Please send the application to all the members of the Wibble Board, the Chancellor and Dean of College. They may be identified with the command:

refer club faculty

Following your application, a member of the Wibble Board will advise you whether you were successful or not and how to obtain any award.

If your application is successful, you will then receive a voucher at the Ankh-Morpork Post Office. The voucher will contain instructions for redemption.

How the Wibble Board works

  1. The applicant mails the members of the Wibble Board using the Discworld postal system.
  2. The wibble board members will determine whether a grant is appropriate, and if so, the amount to be given. They will take into account the quality of the application and the relevance of the purpose for which funds are requested.
  3. A single board member may issue an award not in excess of $150. Any awards in excess of this must be agreed by another board member and issued by The Chancellor.
  4. On approving a successful grant, the board member will create a voucher using quill and paper, stating the name of the applicant, the amount, and signed by the member issuing the voucher. A quill and paper are required for this.
  5. The voucher must be signed by the board member or The Chancellor. The signature must be the first items on the voucher. The voucher must clearly state the name of the applicant it is issued to, and the amount of the award.
  6. The member, or where appropriate The Chancellor, will inform all other board members that a voucher has been issued, and the amount. This information should be copied to The Chancellor and Dean of College, as one of these will have to purchase the voucher from club funds. The member will also copy to the Dean of Liberal Studies so that the new student may be contacted to see if tutoring / mentoring is required.
  7. The voucher may then be deposited at Ankh-Morpork Post Office for the applicant to collect.
  8. The member will mail the recipient advising them of the amount of the award, and that it may be collected at the Ankh-Morpork Post Office.
  9. The voucher and the mail to the applicant should give instructions for redeeming the vouicher.

Guidelines for Applicants

  1. Send your application jointly to all members of the Wibble Board, not a single member.
  2. Make your application interesting to read. The more appealing the application, the more you are likely to be granted. It is very boring to read:

    Hi

    I'm a new student wizard.

I need some money for blorps and spell components.

    Please help me.

    every few days.
  3. Don't tell the board how much you want. Seriously, the easiest way to get a rejection or minimum award is to tell the board that you want them to give you $x.
  4. Write properly. Wibble fund applications are not SMS texts. Surprisingly, the board occasionally receives applications such as:

    u hav 2 giv $$$ cuz i gr8 student

and their response is best summarized as:

    giv u 0

Redeeming the Voucher.

To redeem the voucher, follow the instructions on the voucher or in the email notification of your award.

Guidelines for Approval

  1. Any member of the wibble board may approve a grant of between A$75 and A$150 in respect of a well written application.
  2. If a board member believes that an application is either exceptional or poor, they may propose a higher or lower award to the other board members, and should wait 24 hours for comment before making that award. If a higher award is agreed by at least one other board member, then they jointly ask The Chancellor to issue the voucher.
  3. If a board member believes that a request is undeserving, they may suggest this and, after the above mentioned waiting period, reject the application, informing the applicant of the reason. A student whose application is rejected may re-apply.
